▻ Having fun and optimise will be the next keywords for beauty-routine. Spring-summer season 2021 is going to be an age of multi-tasking products able to guarantee the decorative performances of the latest-trending make-ups and the health benefits of skincare biotechnologies at the same time.

The market for face cosmetics has been growing rapidly in recent years and more and more consumers are enjoying experimenting and discovering new solutions. We can partially trace back  this success to the social media activity of many celebrities and YouTube tutorials, which made it easier for young consumers to access step-by-step explanations on how to obtain contouring, draping, baking and strobing, and get to know which products deliver the best results while respecting our skin’s microbiome.

Among such cosmetics, multi-tasking hybrid make-up is getting quite popular. Consumers want to have fun, but also to optimise: bottom line is obtaining the best result with the least effort. And here’s where active make-ups come into play: formulations capable of merging and delivering two different kind of performances:

  • An immediate visual effect, to meet the consumers’ needs in terms of duration, no-transferring and aesthetics;
  • A cosmetic action able to guarantee long-term anti-aging, anti-oxidation, anti-pollution or moisturising benefits.

Aside from consumer’s time optimisation, another reason why hybrid make-ups are an extremely smart and effective solution is that many ingredients they contain are positively related to the length of exposure to our skin. Since make-up is usually worn for several hours throughout the day, this condition is ideal to ensure the prolonged release of active principles is completely fulfilled.

For instance, during these pandemic times, a recurring problem seems to be the so called maskne, a side effect of using a mask which can cause irritation, redness or acne breakout on the face area. In such case, topical Hyaluronic Acid like SinoHyal, alongside with its moisturising and plumping action, can also offer surprising lenitive, skin-barrier and anti-oxidant effects, allowing other active principles to be rapidly absorbed by our skin as well.

These new trends are opening up opportunities to develop cross-functional treatments that are still unexplored, creating precious synergies among applications and within the industry.
